Relocated this bird on the way into work this morning west of the Nene near Ferry Meadows. It had been found and reported the previous day.

Slavonian Grebes
A brilliant find by Paul Taylor (again!) at Beeby's BP. I'd cycled to Ferry Meadows at lunchtime to see if an earlier reported Crossbill had lingered at the pines in Bluebell Wood. No luck there before I got the call and there was just time to hare across to where Paul had waited (beyond the call of duty) with his scope.
Great views of 2 of these rare grebes. The first time I've seen more than one in the area.

Smew
It was great to find a redhead Smew at Ferry Meadows this morning but a real shame it didn't stick around. It showed for just a minute or two in the south bay of Gunwade Lake before flying off high to the east. Smew is now seriously scarce in the Peterborough area; this was my first in the area for 4 years!
Like the Grey Phal, this was an all-time BIGBY tick taking my total to 184 I think.
